Joint seminar with OGCIO introducing New Security Measure to Government websites using HanWEB

(Hong Kong, 15 Jul 2013) Co-organized with Office of the Government Chief Information Officer(OGCIO), KanHan Technologies Limited(KanHan) held the first IT Security Seminar named “Safeguarding Your Departmental Website using HanWEB against Hackers” at 21/F, Congregation House, Leighton Road 119 Causeway Bay on 28 June 2013.  Over 50 representatives from various departments and bureaus participated who concerning the scanning result of Google Safe-Browsing function on real-time translation server, the flagship product of KanHan – HanWEB. 


Ms. Sue Ko, speaker from OGCIO started the seminar by giving an introduction of the reported incidents that hackers were making use the un-protected HanWEB application server.  Proper permission setting and procedures should be addressed to avoid security loophole mentioned.


The seminar’s agenda included five major topics:


1.          IT Security Threat on domains using HanWEB Translation Server

2.          Which departmental websites already been detected by Google Safe Browsing?

3.          Background on the adoption of HanWEB Translation Server in HKSAR Government

4.          Best Practice of using HanWEB

5.          New HanWEB features & service to counter the security threat  


KanHan’s Security Consultant, Mr. Eric Lai provided details explanation of the security threat in internet environment with remedy solution on HanWEB service package.   New HanWEB security features was introduced to participants with live illustration during the seminar. 


With a new security module in HanWEB 4.5, a proper protected HanWEB application server can alleviate the security loophole in the near future.
